Occupy London Protests

Floor & orders . . . peaceful protesters blocked from sitting on tarpaulin sheets, aka 'structures' (pic:nationofchange.org

I ended up going along to the Occupy London protests last weekend and ended up doing a little video report from it.
Couldn't help myself, it was rather an intriguing day.
Arriving at 10am, I soon found that a plain cardboard box and marker pen would be necessary.
Luckily, there was a well-known supermarket chain mini-store across Parliament Square.
I ran across, to find a sturdy looking cardboard fruit pallet on the wall by a bin.
Beauty. Or so I thought.
Upon unfolding, it had many creases, was long, thin and zig-zag shaped.
And I haven't typed the word 'zig-zag' for years.
Needless to say I'd need a new box. A friendly chap called Simon in the picket line had lent me a black marker pen, and I had an plan for a daubing to enscrawl upon it.
To more delight than I've ever had at seeing a man push a cage on wheels, a man walked out of said supermarket mini-store with a cage on wheels, full of empty BOXES.
Thankfully, Pablo let me in the back of his van and so I got a good chance to plunder for some placards.
Found a few. Got back to the protest.
It struck me that, in amongst the banners of 'We Didn't Vote For NHS Sell-Off' and 'We Didn't Vote For Endless War' - both of which are very true - the undertone was one of anger fuelled by compassion.
If they hold banners saying 'we are the 99%' then do remember that statistically, literally, you also probably are, and so these people are doing this because they want the best for you too!
But you won't hear that reported in the media.
You might hear about two arrests over a weekend, when people tried to get on to the grass.
I could go on about the experience, but I think the video says the rest.
Looks like it'll be the start of more of the same to come.
And speaking of peaceful manners of executing things, here at The Peace Party, we will be announcing our list of candidates for the 2015 election in the coming weeks, following the end of year meeting.
As I shall keep saying, this is a snowball effect and even just by reading this you are a valuable flake in the process of rolling growth down the mountainside of humanity. Then when it all settles into a valley it'll melt into a lake and we'll all be bopping up and down etc.

DON'T THINK THERE'S ANYONE WORTH VOTING FOR? That. Is all. Set. To change.

A policy on Nutrition...

(nb - this is a draft policy/proposal written by Media Spokesperson - and qualified Nutritionist - Tommy Holgate, which is open to development. More detailed blogs will explain the specific benefits of each vitamin and nutrient on the human body.)

The Nutrition Proposition

Goal:

-To get as many nutrients into as many human bodies as possible.

-To freely heal humans for health.

-To feed, educate and integrate.

Reasons:

-It has long been said that 1 in 3 people will be touched by cancer at some point in their lives. I was informed earlier in the year - by an employee of Cancer Research - that ‘they’ are saying it’s going to be 1 in 2 within a decade.

Wealthcare . . . but you can prevent medication need by getting vegucated
-Healthcare is in a 'crisis' and many of us are scare of the prospect of having to pay out big sums for somebody to give us a pill of chemical to treat the symptoms of our lifestyle-created illness.

-This galling reality can be avoided.

-By following a predominently whole foods, plant-based diet, we can reduce our chances of being touched by cancer to more like 1 in 10, or even 1 in 20 if one decided to go pursue the nutrient-chasing to uber-levels.

-The consumption of such a diet is - on a very real level - a form of taking an organic, preventative medicine.

Cost:

-Fresh organic fruits, vegetables, plus nuts, seeds, pulses, juices, smoothies, home-made ice cream etc are likely to be on the menu.

Cash in the pan . . . although no cash or pan needed with amount of free, sumptuous raw produce you'd eat on scheme
-Said items can be perceived as expensive and/or time consuming [to go to a local town marketplace as opposed to popping in to a supermarket for example] to purchase, and the wealth>available nutrition gap continues to widen.
-So more fresh fruit and veg needs to be produced, and available - ideally for free - to those who need it most.

How?

-‘Inner city veg farms’ is how this idea began - a plan to turn derelict buildings and industrial-sized rooftops into plantations - staffed by volunteers who work in return for a cash equivolent of £10-per-hour worth of produce, enough to easily feed a family for a day.
Would you work one 7-hour shift in order to feed your family fresh fruit and vegetables for a week? I certainly might.

Family vitality . . . one person works for half an hour so four people enjoy can enjoy a two hour picnic
The plan started to grew into ‘outer city veg farms’, but then I realised when you get far enough out of a city you get ‘countryside farms’ or ‘farms’ as they’re known.
I think ‘farms’ has already been thought of, so then the challenge became ‘how to get farmers to move away from cattle and battery hens and into organic vegetables.
So tax breaks would be offered to those who ‘took the plunge’ - sometimes as much as having to pay no tax at all in order to rebalance any loss from previous income.

Also...

-All derelict spaces in the UK to be made available for scheme, in return for tax breaks and to the leaseholders.

-Gardens staffed by volunteers, who work in return for weekly fruit and veg - to the cash equivalent of £10 per hour - for their whole family (‘Working4Wellness’). Volunteer schemes can progress into paid work after a certain number of hours are worked. As plan grows, there will be scope for mass job creation on a basis that the first 10 hours of everyone’s working week is in return for produce, then £10 per hour thereafter. This means that a 2.4 children family could exist with each parent working 20 hours part time, feeding themselves and children sufficient nutrients to reach a position of 5% cancer risk, with £200 per week to spend on other costs. Or 1 parent could work 40 hours, bring in enough to feed the family, plus £300 on expenses. Furthermore, a job share scheme could be created.

-’Little Green Fingers’ primary school education programme, staffed by volunteers (also working in return for produce) perhaps of retirement age, with a background in teaching, farming, nutrition. A campaign to get nutrition and holistic health onto the curriculum.

-Physical farming rehab programmes offered to ex-servicemen including a variety of levels of exertion to suit those wounded. Same courtesy extended to mental health rehab centres of all kinds, and naturopathic therapies offered to those with depression and other conditions caused by an inbalance of the body's natural chemicals.

Benefits:

  • Improved emissions.
  • Mass progression of nation's health
  • Greater sports achievement within schools (every kid loves PE, so let’s give them the chance to thrive!)
  • A source of free education
  • A contribution to the curriculum
  • Said diet will improve sleep patterns, concentration and energy levels, and all round 'performance' in every area of life
  • Lower risk of all lifestyle-related illnesses (arthritis, heart disease, chron’s) as well as increasing cancer prevention percentages.

Conclusion:

-Proper nutrients should not be denied to anybody. And indeed - literally - any body.

-This plan will undoubtedly improve those who participate in it, creating a positive ripple effect throughout society's relationship with nutrition and our own physical bodies.

-Veg Fever needs to be the the health epidemic that sweeps the UK.

Sulh, Erray, Beke, Mihs, Gumund, Tsumukikiatu, Pace...

...It all means the same thing.

Peace.

Flagging it up . . . Peace is a concept that needs to be treated as a genuine possibility

Today marks a day when The Peace Party steps into the arena of online internet communication on a more prominent level.
The party itself is currently run by co-founder and National Organiser John Morris - who formed it in 1996 - along with original founder of the 'People's Peace Party' in the 70s, ex pirate radio DJ Jim Duggan.
Jim was one of the dudes broadcasting from the original boat back in the early days and is basically a long white-haired hippy who has been spreading the message of peace around Guildford ever since.
I am honoured to be able to include myself (Tommy Holgate) in the operation as Media Spokesperson.
A bit about 'myself'. . .
I've worked, on-and-off, at The Sun newspaper for the last 11 years - on every department from video to sport, news, online subbing, column writing, showbiz... and even ended up appearing as the Sun+ Lotto mascot, Tommy Lottery, last year.
Lotto fun . . . but in real life I don't give a hoot about cash, preferring to redistribute it wherever possible
There is a beauty in the fact that I personally don't care for money, and that I 'gave away' £1,000,000 over the course of a month.
And I learned a few things from the job.
'Sun readers', from what I experienced, are lovely family-focussed individuals.
Admittedly less likely to be dabbling in rocket science in their spare time, but often working in the very trades and industries that keep the country going.
I grew up reading The Sun but also listening to Radio 4, so struggle to differentiate between any demographic.

Because I know that every demographic is interested in achieving a state of peace for themselves and their family - so in that sense we are all very much the same.

Having been on the media side of many fences, now feels like the right time to get spreading the moral message of The Peace Party across a variety of outlets.

So what is next for you and The Peace Party?
I would say, give us a 'like' on Facebook and follow us on Twitter @PeacePartyUK and visit the website - but crucially be aware that there is now something worth voting for.

It'll be a marathon, not a sprint, but we can begin by encouraging individuals to enjoy the recognition that to achieve peace on a global scale, we must look to achieve peace in our own lives.
Healthy nutrition, appreciation of family and friends, a feeling that 'love' can be a default state will all help in our collective journey to achieve peace on the planet. If this is to be a snowball effect, you're a beautiful snowflake, so get on board!
I think I just heard a little voice inside your head go 'yeah, go on then'.

Here's to some good times,

Party on . . . Peace
